The Bond Committee is the Fixed Income arm of The Norwegian Society of Financial Analysts. The Committee undertakes market issues concerning the Norwegian Bond Market. The Committee consists of participants from all sides of the Market – Investors, Issuers, the Stock Exchange, the Central Bank and Brokers. The wide representation is the committee’s main advantage in solving structural issues.

Last year the Committee worked with the following issues:

  • Documentation on the Norwegian Trading Conventions for Bonds, which will be available on this website in the autumn 2000

  • Arranging and further developing the one-year training program leading to the title “NFF Fixed Income Analyst”. So far, 153 hold this title, and 37 participate in this years program

  • Standardization of the Bond documentation including the most common covenants, in order to make the Credit Risk more transparent

  • Assisting the press in setting up their Fixed Income information

In 2001 we will focus on the following:

Training:

We will develop an introductory course for the one-year “NFF Fixed Income Analyst” training program. This course can work as a separate training program for self-study.

Harmonisation:

The Bond Committee wil l assume an active role in the integration of the Scandinavian markets.

Securitization:

Norwegian legislation is not adapted to the Norwegian issuers’ needs for securitizing assets. Such securitization is important for the Bond Market in Norway.

Seminars:

The committee will host three half-day seminars. We will invite leading Macro Analysts and Strategists to discussions on the outlook for world markets. We will also invite Academia to present recently published papers of interest to the Bond Markets.

Corporate Bonds:

The committee will contribute to the development of this new market. We will continue our work on standardisation of bond documentation.

Internet:

The committee is responsible for the content of the Society’s Fixed Income pages on its Internet site. We will provide information about the Norwegian Bond Market.
